Leon is a man who grew up in the province of Nagrebcan but went to the city to study and met Maria, who he fell in love with and married.
Leon is the eldest son of a family of five, and is a joyful, intelligent person who loves his province very much.
Maria

Maria is a woman from the city who falls in love with and marries Leon, who she lovingly nicknames Noel.
Maria is put to the test if she is well suited to the province. She is described as being beautiful, graceful, and well-put together.

Tenyong is a young man who is described as clever, cheeky, and patriotic. He goes to fight in the revolution later in the story.
He loves and is betrothed to Julia, who he intends to marry but faces trials along the way.
